Microsoft Outlook Web App

Microsoft Outlook Web Application

Microsoft outlook has become integral part of our office lives these days however there is a less known fact is that it can be accessed beyond office hours and from any other system than your computer. The feature which provides this access is the web application which is also known as outlook web application or OWA. This feature provides you to access your office emails from anywhere on the go. It is very user friendly and provides a plenty of ease to operate. Simply open a web browser and use the link to exchange server on the title bar and you shall see a screen which would ask for used id and password. You can log in using your company credentials and then it is as good as the outlook that you use at office. Not only can you access emails however you can also create & keep track of appointments & calendar. Also you can add Lync meeting information to it.

There are certain features in OWA which one needs to know to be able to use it to maximum benefit, some of which are mentioned below:

1.    You may Connect OWA to your LinkedIn or Facebook accounts. Click Settings   > Options > Account > Connected accounts to add a connection to your LinkedIn or Facebook accounts

2.    Single-click access to filter messages. You may select to me, all, unread and flagged with a single click
3.    Inline compose. Apart from reading your mail in the reading pane, you may now compose replies and forwards in the reading pane. One still has the option to open ones response in a new window.

4.    The attachment can be made using Drag and drop. Now we’ll be able to add an attachment to a message by dragging it from the desktop to the message window.

5.    We can now find the drafts quickly. We don’t have to go to our drafts folder or open a conversation to find our drafts. Conversations that we have started a new message in will be clearly marked in the list view.

6.    We can now access the merged calendars views. When we add an additional calendar to our calendar view, the added calendar will be merged with ours to make it easier to find scheduling overlaps. Each calendar will have its own color, which we can change. If we’re using the day view of our calendar, we can split the calendars into separate columns.

7.    We can now refine search results with a click. We can quickly refine our search results by selecting an option to change the folders included in the search and the time period searched.

8.    One more wonderful feature available now is Linked contacts. Outlook Web App will look for similar entries in our Contacts folder and will link them together in a single contact card. We can manually link or unlink entries.

With these wonderful features one would find no difference between outlook at office and the OWA from anywhere.
